E! News secured red carpet coverage at the unveiling of SOUTH Powered by VIZIO. The piece which highlighted VIZIO Theater 3D technologies and LA’s first 3D sports bar ran for the first time on Friday evening and was included in each E! News segment through today’s broadcast at noon.

Vizio is throwing its weight behind the 3D experience with a new concept that should make Monday Night Football at the local sports bar a little more interesting. Located on 3001 Wilshire Blvd. in Santa Monica, South has teamed up with Vizio, who have equipped the bar with an army of 3D-enabled displays. Electronics company Vizio unveiled L.A.’s First 3D Sports Bar at South, in Santa Monica on Thursday. The star-studded evening featured 33 Vizio Theater HDTVs covering the bar, as well as Vizio 3D Blu-ray players and tablets.

After a month of planning, the bar South, located at Stanford and Wilshire, held a private party to unveil their new 3D screens for celebrities and special guests to see the USC vs. Cal football game heading into this past weekend.

Los Angeles Clippers forward Blake Griffin hosted the event, met at the NBA 2K12 video game by Minnesota Timberwolves center Kevin Love for a virtual one-on-one. Other celebrities included former NBA player Jalen Rose, actors Josh Duhamel, Stephen Bishop and Dileep Rao, and movie producer David Furnish among others…

Santa Monica sports bar South and local electronics giant Vizio hope so (well, except for the Dippin’ Dots). Thursday night, South premiered its all 3D TV upgrade to some epic fanfare, red carpet excitement, and all-TVs tuned to the Trojans abusing the Golden Bears. Clippers star Blake Griffin co-hosted the event and brought along Josh Duhamel and Kevin Love, among others, to see how the people of the future will be entertained by them.

Vizio Takes 3D To A Whole Other Level (Teens in Tech)

If you had asked me a year ago what I thought of 3D, I would have said I don’t like it. And that is true even to this day. You see, I wear glasses. For me to be able to watch 3D television right now, I need to put another set of glasses over my existing pair of glasses. It’s not the most comfortable situation to say the least.

But there’s one company that’s taking a leap of faith and putting their money (and product) where their mouth is. Last night, Vizio held a launch party at SOUTH in Santa Monica, a sports bar and grill. For those who live in Santa Monica, or around the area, I’m sure you are all very familiar with this spot…
